shelved and thus held dear

After I read the book, I put it in my small library; shelved and thus held dear. Could the author ask for any other tribute?

I don't think he can. ;
Tell me, I am embarassed to say I have forgotten the well known author of a poem that reminds me of what you have just said....

"When you are old and grey and full of sleep"...." ??

It reminds me of your comment for some reason. Perhaps only the loving act towards a book.

Aha!!! But of course Yeats!

"WHEN you are old and gray and full of sleep
And nodding by the fire, take down this book, ".

Sorry, I remembered and how could I have forgotten.
