luddite moment

With all the talk about how new technologies (twitter, facebook, blogs, youtube, ebooks, podcasts, etc.) are changing poetry, I can’t help but think that perhaps poetry’s future may be better served by delivering poems via carrier pigeons and bottles tossed into the sea.

I think maybe we're there already -- in that future you speak of -- at least virtually speaking.

Each of us watching the horizon for that sail that never comes.

To be one another's Leucothoe, maybe the best we can do.

(A frayed and leaky inflatable bikini, anyone?)
